Junior(8-11, Grade 3-5)

Every class combines singing, acting, and dance through increasingly challenging musical theatre training designed to strengthen confidence, creativity, and performance skills. Students experience:

• Musical theatre classes integrating singing, acting, and dance through songs, scenes, and performance projects
• Progressive vocal, drama, and movement training through increasingly challenging activities and performance work
• Expanded vocal, acting, and movement warm-ups that develop stronger technique and performance readiness
• Songs and musical activities that strengthen vocal technique, listening, rhythm, pitch, and ensemble singing
• Character exploration through improvisation, scripted scenes, and collaborative storytelling
• Longer choreography and movement phrases that develop coordination, musicality, and stage awareness
• Structured ensemble activities that build focus, responsibility, and positive rehearsal habits
• Blocking, stage directions, formations, and age-appropriate theatre terminology
• Regular teacher feedback that helps students improve and make stronger performance choices
• Two fully produced stage performances each year, with costumes, lighting, and props

By the end of Junior, students should be prepared to:

• Perform confidently while combining singing, acting, and dance in longer performance material
• Sing accurately with healthy technique, expressive storytelling, and growing independence within an ensemble
• Read and respond to rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, articulation, and basic musical notation
• Learn, retain, and perform longer choreography and connected movement phrases
• Create believable characters using voice, movement, facial expression, motivation, and imagination
• Use stage directions and common theatre terminology with growing confidence
• Collaborate effectively within an ensemble while meeting increased rehearsal expectations
• Demonstrate the independence, focus, and performance confidence needed for Intermediate Musical Theatre or a Junior Troupe audition
